Chinese Ox or Taurus Bull? What's your type?

With Chinese New Year approaching this month, it got me thinking………

Does your Chinese animal type affect your behaviour? Do you fit your type? What about your zodiac sign?

The new Chinese year is the year of the Ox, so anyone born this year or previous Ox years should be determined, strong and dependable, with white, yellow and green as their lucky colours. Bearing in mind there are 12 potential Chinese animals, that means one twelfth of the population would share the same characteristics.

Then, of course, there is also your Zodiac sign and, again, one twelfth of us would share our type. So, if you fall under the Taurus star sign, according to the horoscopes today from Mystic Meg….

“As Mercury and Mars square up, two different sides of you clash to create a crackling energy. If a part of you has been silenced, let it speak and express your true dreams. The way you arrange colours and textures at home can take you towards a career linked to design.”

Sounds like a whole section of the population will be heading for a new design career!

Identify both your Chinese animal and your zodiac sign and you have 144 possible combinations. Do you know what your combined type is? Do they contradict or complement each other? Do you fit the type descriptions?

For me, I am a Libran Rooster……a combination of observant, resourceful, and talented with fairness, idealism and a tendency to peace making thrown in. And I’m happy to say that I can probably agree with that description.

How about if instead I look at a Dragon Pisces…….enthusiasm, confidence and intelligence combined with generosity, creativity and empathy. Even though these are not my year or month, this is definitely another description that I am happy to agree with!

Which is the correct one? Or are they self fulfilling once you know what you are ‘supposed’ to be like?

Then, how different are these ancient classifications of people from our modern personality models? Are we more accurate now with our MBTI and our Disc profiles, to name but two?
